Hourglass allows you to keep track of the time spent on each project by your employees. It also allows you to manage your project costs and work in progress in a secure environment.

Very flexible, Hourglass adapts to your needs whether you are a big company or self-employed.

Version 2 of Hourglass includes the following modules:

• Employees input timesheet information, including details of hours (normal time and over time) spent working on different projects.
• Timesheets are posted to translate time into project costs using employees' hourly rates (normal time and over time can have different rates).
• Timesheets can be unposted, modified, and reposted to correct any timesheet errors. Timesheets can also be deleted if required.
• Hourglass remembers when an employee entered timesheets and automatically brings them to that date.

• Project owners input project work-in-progess details, including Total Fee, % Complete and Amount Invoiced To Date.
• Work in progress can be frozen to provide a snapshot per period (month/quarter) of the current state of projects.
• Project owners can flag projects that need to be invoiced.

The reporting module, based on Crystal Reports, provides many reports including the following:

• Weekly Timesheet Report for an employee
• Timesheet Summary Report for a team
• Work In Progress Report highlighting projects to be invoiced
• Project Costs Report showing all costs for a selected project
• Profit And Loss To Date Report for a project

If you need a report that Hourglass doesn't currently provide we can develop it for you. Alternatively you can use Crystal Reports to create your own.

All reports can be exported to different file formats such as Microsoft Excel (XLS), HTML, Rich Text Format (RTF), Microsoft Word (DOC), Text File (TXT), Comma Separated Value File (CSV) and more, with a simple click of the mouse.

Reports can also be exported to different destinations such as: Disk File, Exchange Folder, Lotus Notes, ODBC Data Source and Microsoft Mail (MAPI).

This powerful functionality allows you to view and manipulate project data using other software, such as spreadsheets, databases, etc. It also allows you to send reports by email.

The configuration module of Hourglass allows an Administrator user to set up the following:

• Offices
• Teams
• Employees
• Projects
• Application Permissions
• Data Permissions

For example the Administrator user might configure a Timesheet group as follows:

• Enable Timesheet menu. This will allow group members to enter Timesheets and view Weekly Timesheet Report. No other menu option will be available.
• Enable access to a single office. Group members cannot enter Timesheets for projects in other offices.

The architecture of Hourglass allows it to interface with external systems. Data can be imported from 3rd party financial packages. Alternatively, Hourglass data can be exported to external applications and databases.

For example, Hourglass already includes an Access Accounts import module. This module imports Project definitions, Project costs and Invoices and Expense codes.
